Helena Sturm - Stunts and Dancing

Since I graduated in contemporary dance, jazz dance and ballet in 2015, I have always enjoyed traveling wherever there are exciting new projects. I keep my eyes and mind open for whatever chance comes my way.

Wherever I go I get the chance to redefine myself. With every new project I feel like I can start from the beginning and be the very person I am in that moment. That helps so much with finding who I really want to be and who I am in that very moment - as an artist and as a person.

Getting to know new people all the time is a huge part of my daily life – and I love it! To get in touch with so many talented artists inspires me and makes me feel home in a world that is completely loose and drawn apart by constant traveling.

The combination of physically demanding dance productions and the precision and focus that is needed for stage action and stunts mirrors my character very much. Working with several dance choreographers as well as the stunt coordinator Ran Arthur Braun showed me a very high league of professional trust and artistry that I enjoy being a part of.

I'm always keen on taking the next step and I try to get the most out of myself - new challenges are very tempting and exciting for me! Especially combining several styles of training for requirements of different types of stage performances keeps me motivated to reach out to new forms of working, training and experiencing. Using all the input I can get, I found that especially my long experience in the dance section both in training different styles and gaining stage experience by performing them in several theatres and stage arrangements helps so much to also include stunt performance into my portfolio.

Taking risks, that are being supervised trustfully by stunt coordinator Ran Arthur Braun, therefore tempt me a lot and make me want to grow even more by experiencing more and more ways of expressing myself in acting stunts and physical theatre performance to for example support my colleagues on stage for their success as a singer as I did working as a stunt double for Jeanne d’Arc in „Die Jungfrau von Orleans“ at Theater an der Wien (2019) and „Der fliegende Holländer“ at Bayreuther Festspiele (2021).  I was performing Aerial Fight Choreography and Aerial Stunts and also a hanging stunt, which I have the pleasure to perform this summer as well. Dance and Stunts are strongly connected as I look forward to the future.
